Maaz Alvi

A fearless & determined high school Freshman, seeking his way through life & molding our future for people around the world...I love making new friends too

I've been focused on various things throughout my life, but public speaking is what I prefer doing, to share stories and perspectives with people. I've interacted with people of all ages, contributed through food and item drives, traveled the world, coded games, played piano at concerts, sang at parties, danced at weddings, read books, kicked goals, made touchdowns, and bounced through hoops but I’m always running the race.

Projects

President of the Student Council at Dover-Sherborn Middle School

School
On 18 June, as President of the Student Council, I had an opportunity to give a speech. It's been a proud time for me and I want to promote my school and share our perspective of the world.
Excerpt: “All the rumors were true: seventh grade was substantially more difficult than sixth grade, yet we devised strategies to study and review notes while the teachers handed out our tests. Through cell projects and observations under the microscope, science enhanced students' imagination and interests. In late December of that year, COVID-19 was first recorded and no one could have ever predicted what would happen next in our lives.”

Participated In Local Food And Item Drives

Westborough, Shewsbury, Worcester and Dover in Massachusetts

In school, at a young age, I’ve participated in local food and item drives. There are many food banks and opportunity in school to donate pantry foods, clothes and toys to those who can't afford. In elementary school, it was always a competition amongst the children. Soon, I’ll be able to work on a bigger scale than current works.

Experience

Aligarh Alumni Association of New England's Youth Festival

Since 2010, I've worked in management, sales, and as a participant in AAANE's Youth Festival with my parents and friends. The Youth Festival distributes money to charities dealing with homelessness, local food drives, and Big Help, a non-profit that helps poor children, through activities, auctions, and competitions. I've been a high ranking student in competitions like the Math Bee, Spelling Bee and Impromptu Speaking.

Goals

  • In this world an aim of mine to volunteer for others and gradually eradicate poverty worldwide; then all people can enjoy a joyful life.
  • I wish to offer experiences and insights so that people find some motivation.
  • I have always had an interest in science and in communicating with others as a personal objective. Medicine is an endless subject of education, thus later on I would like to be a doctor. By being the doctor, I can create a change in this world and volunteer for the people.

Athletics has always been a huge part of my life since I was a kid. Participating for myself gave me the opportunity to communicate with others at an early age and helped me acquire skills useful in life. Arts

Music

Music is a hobby of mine that allows me to relax and enjoy what life has to offer. At the age of four, I decided to learn the piano because I was inspired by Mozart and other classical composers. I was then introduced to music such as Qawwali through Coke Studio, a popular program that records live music by notable Pakistani and Indian singers. In the long car drives across the United States, my parents and I listened to long playlists of Bollywood songs. In third grade, I began Viola, which was required. The cello looked cool, and it was practically my height, so I joined the symphony in fourth grade. Fifth grade began with me learning the Alto Saxophone. At 13 years of age, I became interested in Hindustani classical singing and began playing the Tabla in August of 2021. Due to my travels, I'm immersed in all different music, Middle Eastern, Latin American and Mongolian.

Favorite Books

All you need to know is that I have over 200 books in my collection and that I love nonfiction. I'm always eager to learn something new from each book I read. Life of PI by Yann Martel, Being Mortal by Atul Gawande, and John Canning 100 Great Lives are three of my favorites.

About Me

At the beginning of 2007, I was born prematurely. My parents always want the best for me, therefore they have taken me to numerous nations to see how people live and to comprehend cultures. In Amsterdam in 2010, my earliest recollections began. Then afterwards I became interested in music and started to play the piano at 4. Sports started from soccer to tennis and now my favorites are swimming, bicycling, rock climbing and table tennis. I appreciated the experience of making new acquaintances in middle school, taking part in editing the school newspaper, leading the student council and several other clubs. Much has been done, indeed, but it's not near the end.
